Redskins Eying Owen Schmitt
- Updated: February 11, 2013
If you remember last season the Washington Redskins were close to signing a deal with former West Virginia Mountaineer fullback, Owen Schmitt, who at the time had last played for the Philadelphia Eagles. However, after concerns with his physical the Redskins decided not to sign Schmitt to a contract.
Sources indicate that the Washington Redskins have interest in Schmitt yet again, and that his physical should not be a problem this time. With all signs pointing to the departure of Chris Cooley, Schimitt would make an ideal backup to starting fullback Darrel Young.
Schmitt last played for the Oakland Raiders in 2012, but found himself waved at the beginning of December due to a roster shakeup. Owen is best known for splitting his head open during a Seattle Seahawks game where he came out smacking his helmet against his forehead.

I like Schmitt, But with the little money we have we dont need to wast it on someone like him. Unless he can play TE he is useless to us. Young is already one of the best fullbacks in the NFL.
