SOW Pick’em: Redskins at Giants
- Updated: October 19, 2012
Kiel was the only one to have picked the wrong outcome for the Redskins game, while Ray almost nailed everything spot on. This week the Redskins head up to NY to face the defending Super Bowl champs they swept last year. Can Washington start off 1-0 in the NFC East?

The Redskins defense nearly let another game slip away at home, and had it not been for Robert Griffin III’s amazing 76 yard touchdown run, the Redskins easily could be sitting at 0-9 at FedExField. The offense was pretty quiet the majority of the game, and had it not been for early defensive stands by the defense, Washington would have at two less touchdowns. The Giants have played poorly at home so far this season, and with an injured Bradshaw, the Redskins will be able to stay close, but the defense will wear down by the end of the game, and we’ll be talking about another loss within the last five minutes of the 4th.

So if crazy worked last week let’s see what insanity does this week shall we? Believe it or not I believe that the Redskins secondary has been improving over the last few weeks thanks in part to the front seven finally getting some (not much, but some) pass rush. This week look for Haslett to implement a much more exotic blitz scheme then we have seen the first 6 weeks of the season in effort to frustrate Eli and knock him off his game. Pass rush is the key, if the Redskins can bring the heat up front we could be looking at the first 3 game winning streak against New York since that whole Y2K situation.

The Washington Redskins are on a two-game winning streak against the defending Champs. But to quote the players, “Those games don’t mean anything now.” The Redskins are going into hostel territory. And this marks the first time RG3 has been back to NYC since being drafted in April. This has the making to be the best match up of the weekend. Everyone wrote off the Redskins again this year, but with a win this Sunday they go into 1st Place in the NFCE. Let me say that one more time, 1st Place in the NFCE. That felt good. The Redskins offensive line is going to have to prove themselves on Sunday and when they do, I believe the Redskins walk away from NY with another win and in 1st Place in the NFCE.

I hate the NFC east teams, I hate their annoying fans, and I really hate the platform built by media outlets praising Eli for being a mediocre QB (yeah I said it). Take away the solid oline, the decent running game, that monster pass rush, and Eli would be nothing. No Giants fans, Eli did not win 2 super bowls, it was the defense. This week the Redskins take on the Giants and I hope RG3 put up 30+ points so I can hear Giants players, and their coach whine about how the wind made Elisha throw interceptions, or how dirty the Redskins played them.
